CapuTech Power Solutions

The power industry has experienced increased pressures with regards to plant performance and reliability. Utilities are challenged with several performance metrics - with two of the most important being Equivalent Availability Factor (EAF) and Cost of Generation (COG). The real problem however is that these key performance indicators are often at odds with each other. The utility with a target of increasing EAF often incurs greater operations and maintenance (O&M) costs as part of the process. How is it then that pacesetter utilities are able to achieve availability numbers of greater than 90% while simultaneously keeping generation costs below $15/MWhr? As expected, that answer is not a simple one.

To help achieve pacesetter status, CapuTech has worked with many utilities to develop a multi-phased approach to delivering operations and maintenance excellence. The result is CapuTech's proprietary decision support system, currently leveraged for fleetwide monitoring at several North American utilities. The figure below summarizes the solution.
