Cascading Drop-Downs

An often requested feature that was originally solved with custom code now makes its way into a standard, highly configurable feature.  Cascading drop-downs are useful for any entry type that requires a drop-down to be filtered based on the selection of a parent drop-down.  A good example is the Plant Area selection filtering the Plant Equipment drop-down to only include relevant equipment from the selected area.  The hierarchy is fully user configurable via a simple text file and an unlimited number of filter levels are available.

Enhanced Duty Roster and Crew Personnel Definition

Event Log 3.2 now includes the ability to define the shift crew makeup by specifying people and roles on a shift by shift basis.  Have 7 positions normally occupied on each of 4 shifts?  No problem, Event Log allows the configuration of the names of those roles (e.g., Lead Operator, DCS Tech, Master Electrician, etc.) and the names of the people normally working those roles.  If for any reason, a role changes or someone calls in sick, an override can easily be implemented.  The Enhanced Duty Roster collects all this information and also allows the current shift to easily logoff all previous shifts with a single click.

Custom Color Coding

Since the initial version of Event Log, all log entries have been color coded with respect to status.  Incomplete and overdue Tasks show us with a red background, while new, Unreviewed Log Entries are shaded in blue.  Event Log 3.2 now allows for the configuration of background colors based on user defined rules.

Custom Entry Symbols

Similar to the background color coding, Event Log has always made use of entry symbols to further indicate status.  Now with version 3.2, users can also specify custom symbols that dynamically update based on rules you specify.  Sample applications include color coded progress bars for Tasks and indicator icons for entry importance.

Enhanced Shift Change

The Shift Change module in Event Log has long been applauded for its ease of use and efficiency - allowing users to rapidly complete a review of all previous shift entries while still tracking the date/time and user who completed the review.  But an often requested feature was the ability to lock entries once the shift change was complete.  Event Log 3.2 brings this functionality to reality with the Enhanced Shift Change module.

Auto-Notification on Critical Entries

In many cases, critical entries must be communicated in real-time to various individuals or groups.  A prime example would be an environmental event.  In this case, the Environmental Manager would need to be notified with details of the event.  Event Log 3.2 now allows for the automatic generation of emails by specifying the individual in the "Reported To" field.

Equipment Picker Custom Column

Many of our clients have chosen to associate their equipment list for log entries with the equipment contained within their maintenance systems (CMMS).  To accommodate this, Event Log 3.2 now includes an Equipment Picker column that allows for rapid searching against either the Equipment ID or Description.  It's a high-performance column allowing search results across hundreds of thousands of equipment virtually instantly.
